Mobilize Frederick

Mobilize Frederick was established by many members of the Workgroup to implement the report’s proposed solutions. Our first-year efforts paid off. Frederick County has allocated $3.7 million to start an Office of Climate and Energy and to expand existing programs, such as home weatherization, solar installations, and fleet electrification. The City of Frederick has also increased its budget for climate-related programs and funded a study of a “Green Bank” to finance cleaner technologies for low-income households, farms, and small businesses. Governments alone cannot achieve the goal. There must also be community-wide collaboration.

Maryland Forest Service

The Maryland Forest Service restores, manages, and protects Maryland’s trees, forests, and forested ecosystems to sustain our natural resources and connect people to the land. To accomplish this, we work with private, public, and non-profit landowners to assist with forest stewardship planning, tree planting, invasive species management, and a host of other services.

Climate Change Working Group of Frederick County

The Climate Change Working Group of Frederick County was founded in 2016, to bring together community volunteers to share knowledge, research climate change issues, and develop recommendations to address climate change at the local level through policy development, education and advocacy. We work on multiple topics related to climate change, including energy, water, health, transportation, ecosystem preservation, and the economy. We advocate for the recommendations we propose, and welcome alliance and cooperative work with others seeking similar goals. Our meetings are open to all; click on the weblink to the Envision Frederick County website for the current meeting schedule.
