Thanks to a Small Watershed grant of $73,000, Catoctin Land Trust and partners of the Heart of Maryland Collaborative are creating a conservation and restoration plan for three watersheds in Frederick and Washington counties: the Monocacy, Catoctin, and Antietam. The idea is simple, but powerful: work with landowners to plant more than 250,000 trees and preserve 2,000 acres by 2031. Grasslands and other regenerative agriculture practices are also priorities. A huge part of the effort is outreach to landowners. Since February, our partners in the Collaborative have hosted three events to help landowners connect with various programs offering trees, grassland conversions, and other practices. More events are being planned. This project is made possible through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, with support from the U.S. EPA. Do you want free trees for your land?
