Hosted by Catoctin Land Trust, the Heart of Maryland Collaborative is a network of more than 30 organizations and agencies working together to leverage resources, share information, and collaborate on projects and programs throughout Frederick and Washington counties. Together, we share a vision of creating a connected landscape with healthy waterways, productive and sustainable working lands, thriving wildlife habitat, and vibrant communities connected to green spaces and greenways across the Heart of Maryland.
A key part of achieving this vision is through outreach and education. The Discover the Heart of Maryland event brings that mission to life by creating a welcoming, community-focused experience where residents, landowners, farmers, and conservation enthusiasts can connect directly with Collaborative partners. In an engaging open-house setting, attendees have the opportunity to learn about conservation programs, ask questions, explore local resources, and discover the many organizations working to protect and enhance our region.
The inaugural Discover the Heart of Maryland event was held on July 25, 2026, at Antietam Creek Vineyards in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Featuring live music, local food vendors, beautiful vineyard views, and representatives from conservation organizations across the region, the event welcomed a large crowd of community members for an afternoon of learning, networking, and celebration. It showcased the power of collaboration and highlighted the many opportunities available for residents to get involved in protecting the Heart of Maryland.
