Catoctin Land Trust
Catoctin Land Trust is Maryland’s only land trust dedicated to preserving the woods and waters of the Appalachian Trail landscape. Our vision is an enduring connected and living Appalachian Mountain mountain landscape of protected forests, clean streams, regenerative farmland and vibrant communities in Frederick and Washington counties.
This stunning landscape is centered around South Mountain, with Elk Ridge to the west and Catoctin Mountain to the east. These ridges are headwaters for the Monocacy River and Antietam and Catoctin creek watersheds — tributaries of the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. We have helped protect over 2,200 acres so far!
We also convene the Heart of Maryland Conservation Alliance, a network of partners and people who bring an exceptional depth of experience and interests, working together to preserve and restore our mountain landscape.
